Buffalo Bankruptcy Attorney Discusses The Credit Counseling Courses Needed Prior to Bankruptcy
I am often asked as an experienced Buffalo Bankruptcy Attorney, what type of credit counseling courses are needed prior to bankruptcy. In order to file a bankruptcy, whether it be a chapter 7 or a chapter 13 bankruptcy, there are two credit counseling courses that you have to take. The first is taken prior to the filing of the bankruptcy and that certificate that you’ll receive authorizes us to do so. The second class that you have to take is done shortly after you’ve filing the bankruptcy. As a Buffalo Bankruptcy Attorney, I tell people that when they get the bankruptcy notice in the mail, that your bankruptcy has been filed, that’s the time to take the second course. The first course that you’re going to be taking gives you a general understanding of what bankruptcy is involved, the second course is very helpful because it gives you little hints, little ideas on what you can do to budget yourself better, eliminate some of the obligations that you have on a monthly basis and at the same time, how to re-establish your credit worthiness.
