How Much are Attorney Fees for a Divorce?

When I meet with clients as a Buffalo Divorce Lawyer, one of the issues that we discuss all the time is the issue of attorney fees. Our office generally requires a retainer. That retainer depends upon the circumstances of the parties. For example, if I’m dealing with a party who has not been working and not the bread winning spouse, oftentimes we’re able to go after the supporting spouse with an order to show cause for contribution toward legal fees.
If I’m dealing with the party who has the funds, is working, and is capable of providing a legal fee, we require a retainer which is determined by the complexity of the case. When we sit down, we’ll go over the facts and circumstances and make a determination as to what’s reasonable, what’s affordable, and how we can move forward with the matter.
