What Should I Do If Creditors Freeze My Benefits?
I am often contacted by individuals who have received a notice from their bank or their lending institution that their account has been frozen and what’s in those accounts might be spousal support or child support or Social Security benefits or disability benefits. Those type of assets cannot be taken through wage deduction nor a garnishee against your accounts. All you have to do is notify your lender and provide them with proof that the funds that are going into the account are exempt from attachment and that creditor will not get paid.
