How Have the DWI Laws Changed in Recent Years?
The laws in New York state have changed dramatically over the past five to six years. The reason for that is there’s been a great deal of pressure being put on the legislature and on the judicial system to prosecute DWIs. For instance, if you’re caught driving in a vehicle with a fifteen year old, that’s a felony in New York state.
If you are pulled over for a DWI and you’re found guilty, you have to have a device put in your vehicle at you’re expense, that you’re going to pay for, in order to be able to drive that vehicle, even if you’re granted a conditional license. They’re very harsh now, as far as your charges are concerned, and the penalties are very severe.
