What Should I Do after Being Pulled over for Suspected DWI?
If you are arrested or pulled over for driving while intoxicated, always keep in mind that the police officer is just doing his job. You comply with the police officer’s requests. If he asks you for your driver’s license, your social security card, make sure that you have those available, and you present those to the officer.
If you’re asked whether or not you’ve been drinking, you have to acknowledge yes if you have, because the test will show that alcohol in your system, but try to avoid saying how much you’ve had to drink, or when you had the drink at, specifically. If you’re asked to take field tests, comply. If you don’t, the police officer will jot this down, and it will be used against you in a court of law.
