What’s an Order of Protection?
In domestic violence cases, it is very common to get an order of protection. An order of protection can be a stay away order where the individual can’t come near you, your home, your place of business, your school. Anywhere where you are customarily, they can’t be. Another type of order of protection is one which simply says that the party has to refrain from any type of domestic violence against you. Domestic violence, again, can be harassment; it can be actual, it can be verbal. It does not necessarily mean that an individual is causing physical harm to you. Emotional harm, financial harm, or even the threat of that, is domestic violence.
